Ewan McGregor is probably one of the most easily identifiable non-Jewish actors out there. The man behind young Obi-Wan Kenobi and Christian in “Moulin Rouge!” is just… so Scottish. Which isn’t to say there aren’t Scottish Jews (just check out Eugene Levy’s kosher kilt), but the majority of Scots who do identify as religious are, you guessed it, Christian.
But did you know that Ewan McGregor’s first wife was Jewish? And that they raised their children Jewishly? It’s true. And now, two of Ewan McGregor’s children are becoming actors in their own right. So let’s take a look at Ewan McGregor’s eldest child, Clara.

4. Clara has French-Greek Sephardi Jewish heritage through her mother. Eve was raised in a fairly secular household growing up, but religion became more important to her after having children.
5. As such, Clara and her sisters had bat mitzvahs at a Conservative synagogue in London. “Their bat mitzvahs were some of the best days of my life,” Ewan said of the experience.

“The only thing I had to deal with was kids at school saying, ‘Your dad’s Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ and that was fine, and I wasn’t thrown into the public eye before I had my own decision to put myself there,” Clara once told a reporter.

9. Clara first got into acting in plays at school during her childhood in London. She was Queen Guinevere in “The Canterbury Tales” and the White Rabbit in “Alice in Wonderland.” But when her family moved to Los Angels when she was a teen, it was a different story.
“I turned my back on [acting] when we went to LA,” Clara explained. “All throughout high school, I was asked, ‘Are you going to be an actress?’ and it felt good to say, ‘No, I’m going to be behind the camera.’ I guess I wanted to rebel and do something different.”
10. She initially studied photography at New York University before switching her major to film. She graduated in 2017.
11. After watching the movie “Cinema Paradiso,” she realized she did, in fact, want to be an actor.
“I asked myself why I was turning my back on this just because my dad did it. I took an acting class and fell in love with it again.”
12. She signed with Wilhelmina Models in 2017 and is now signed with IMG Models. She’s modeled for Playboy, Bluebella and Jewish-owned fashion brand Batsheva.
