Who doesn’t love talented celebrity siblings? There’s nothing quite as heartwarming as seeing Maude and Iris Apatow, Jonah Hill and Beanie Feldstein or Nat and Alex Wolff collaborating on a project — or, at the very least, walking the same red carpet.
And siblings Clara and Esther McGregor are the latest up-and-coming Jewish celebrity actor siblings.
Since we’ve already covered 18 things to know about Clara McGregor, it’s time to do the same for her younger sister Esther!
Here are 18 things to know about her.
1. Esther was born on Oct. 22, 2001 in London to parents Ewan McGregor and Eve Mavrakis.
2. She’s a Libra!
3. Esther has French-Greek Sephardi Jewish heritage through her mother. Eve was raised in a fairly secular household growing up, but religion became more important to her after having children.
4. Esther and her sisters had bat mitzvahs at a Conservative synagogue in London. “Their bat mitzvahs were some of the best days of my life,” Ewan said of the experience.

“One day in June, during pride month, I was just hanging out with my sister and I was like you know what, I want to post something to say happy pride month. Not as a big coming out, but to say that I’m supportive, and I’m part of the community, too,” Esther described her public coming out. “I think she saw that, and was like, ‘Oh, it’s pretty cool that you just do that.’ And I was like, yeah, it’s not a big deal, who cares? So she posted one. And it was like a little dual sister coming out moment!”
7. “I’ve been acting since I came out of my mom’s stomach,” Esther told Vanity Fair. Apparently, she put on a lot of performances in her family’s living room. She went on: “My parents never let me do anything onscreen until I was old enough to executively make the decision, and also old enough to be a human on set.”

10. She has a hairless cat named Azure. “She’s a French cat,” Esther said in an interview. “She really only speaks French.”
11. Esther has modeled for Miu Miu, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Stella McCartney. However, she has recently stepped back from modeling to focus on acting.
12. She was a part of an electro-pop band called French Thyme, which released an album in 2020.
13. Esther’s guilty pleasures are “eating deli meat straight from her bag, putting herself first and missing her grandmother in Paris.”
14. She used to work as a tattoo artist before stepping back to focus on acting full time! Check out this tat she did of the Hebrew word “ahava,” meaning “love.”
15. She acted alongside her father in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” playing Tetha Grigg. In one extremely meta moment, her character tells her father’s character, “I was someone’s daughter once, too.”
16. Esther starred in “Babygirl” and Pedro Almodovar’s “The Room Next Door.” According to her, playing a teenage character in the former actually helped her heal her relationship with her father following her parents’ divorce.
“For me,” she said, “that was the age when you shift and realize your parents are humans and fuck up and make mistakes and make decisions that might not be in the interest of others.”
