18 Things to Know About Trans Jewish Model Kai Schreiber

The 16-year-old daughter of Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts just made her Fashion Week debut.

Actors Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber are two extremely well-respected performers in the entertainment business. But did you know that the pair, who were together from 2005 to 2016, have an equally talented daughter? It’s true!

Kai Schreiber might just be 16 years old, but she has burst onto the modeling scene thanks to a place in Valentino’s Fall/Winter 2025-2026 ready-to-wear collection runway show at Paris Fashion Week. Plus, thanks to her dad, she has Jewish ancestry!

Here are 18 things to know about her.

1. Kai was born on Dec. 13, 2008.

2. She’s a Sagittarius.

3. On her dad’s side, she has Ukrainian and Polish Jewish ancestry.

“I know it’s an essential part of who I am and a lot of what drives me as an actor and as an artist is to know my own heritage and to know my family,” Liev said in a 2017 interview with Global News. “I tell my kids who they are, I tell them who their parents are, who their grandparents and great-grandparents are. You try to let them know what it means to be a family.”

4. Kai is transgender. Though she hasn’t spoken publicly about her identity, her parents have shared their support and love for her on their social media pages. “Happy Birthday Gorgeous,” Liev wrote in a post for Kai’s 15th birthday.

“Happy birthday my sweet little angel,” Naomi shared on the same day. “You are everything to me. I’m so lucky to be your mum. Keep dancing and showing the world your dynamic and glorious spirit.”

6. She voiced a young wolf in the 2016 live-action remake of “The Jungle Book.”

7. Kai was not impressed by her dad’s five “Ray Donovan” Golden Globe nominations. In 2018, Liev sat down for an interview with NBC’s Willie Geist who said, “I imagine [getting nominated] never gets old.”

“It does to my kids,” Liev said, laughing. He then quoted Kai’s response to him, “It’s not that big a deal, Dad never wins anyways.

8. In 2019, Kai and her brother attended a summer camp specializing in performing arts. “It seems they’ve got the bug,” their mom Naomi shared in an interview with Net-a-Porter.

9. She graduated from middle school at St. Luke’s School in June 2022.

13. She is signed with IMG Models. IMG Models made modeling history when they signed the first-ever openly transgender model Hari Nefi in 2015. Like Schreiber, Nef is Jewish.

14. Kai made her runway debut walking for Valentino at the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 Paris Fashion Week show. The collection is titled “Le Méta-Théâtre Des Intimités” (The Meta-Theater of Intimacies) and was shown on a set inspired by David Lynch.

15. She wore, per PEOPLE, “a long-sleeve animal-print minidress with a feathered neckline, as well as white lace tights, blue-tinted sunglasses and white pumps with a floral detail around the ankle.”

Ilysm @kaischreiberrr ❤️,” Naomi Watts wrote. Meanwhile, Liev Schreiber wrote, “Ladies and gentlemen the one, the only, the indomitable @kaischreiberr!”

18. Following the show, Kai’s dad Liev defended her from claims that she is a nepo baby.

“It doesn’t matter,” he told TMZ of the fact that he and Naomi Watts are professional actors. “She does what she wants with her life, and I’m super proud of her,” he went on. “I thought she did an amazing job in the show.”
