Chiara Aurelia has really been coming into her own over the last few years. The Jewish actress has booked roles from Netflix to Broadway, and it seems inevitable that we are going to be seeing a lot of this young star in the future. So, without further ado, here are 18 things to know about her.
1. Chiara Aurelia de Braconier d’Alphena was born on Sept. 13, 2002 in New Mexico.
2. She’s a Virgo!
3. On her mother’s side, Chiara is the granddaughter of actor Tony Travis and author/poet Carolyn Kleefeld. Though it’s unclear if she identifies as religiously or culturally Jewish, she has Russian, German and Polish Jewish roots.
4. Meanwhile, on her father’s side, Chiara is descended from Édouard Louis Joseph, 1st Baron Empain, and Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens.
5. Just look at how adorable she was as a kid!
6. Chiara knew she wanted to be an actress from a young age, and began splitting time between New Mexico and Los Angeles to start her career. Her first professional role came when she was 12, in an episode of “CSI.”
7. She attended the Lee Strasberg Institute as a child to focus on her acting and performance skills.
8. Some of her earliest jobs include roles on “Pretty Little Liars,” “Agent Carter” and Nickelodeon’s “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.”
9. Chiara’s break came when she was cast as Jeanette in season one of “Cruel Summer.”
“It was such an incredibly unique opportunity and it was like nothing I’d ever seen or read before,” Chiara explained to MTV News, “especially as someone trying to learn more in this industry and grow in the best hands.”
10. She’s been nominated for a handful of awards like a Critic’s Choice Award and a Hollywood Critics Association TV Award. Chiara won two Young Entertainer Awards, one in 2018 for “Gerald’s Game” and one in 2019 for “Back Roads.”
11. Chiara played Sheila Watson in “Fear Street Part Two: 1978” and “Fear Street Part Three: 1666.” She met and became close friends with fellow actress Sadie Sink on set.
12. Chiara played a younger version of Jewish actress Mila Kunis in the Netflix movie “Luckiest Girl Alive.”
13. She loves playing “spicy” female characters.
“I love complicated characters,” she said in an interview. “I think that women are complicated and I think that people are complicated and I think that I’m complicated. When a character is written with so many different layers of the onion, that’s something that I relate and connect to.”
14. What’s in Chiara’s bag? We’ll let her tell you:
15. She played the role of Georgia in the Off-Broadway play “Dilaria,” opposite Ella Stiller. “The first time I read the play, I immediately fell in love with Georgia. There are a lot of layers and a lot of colors,” Chiara noted to New York Theatre Guide. “The dynamic she has with Dilaria doesn’t necessarily represent who she is as a person outside their relationship.”
16. Chiara took over the role of Shelby in “John Proctor Is the Villain” from, who else, Sadie Sink in July 2025. It was her Broadway debut.

17. Chiara initially auditioned for the role of Raelynn in “John Proctor” when the show was casting. “Sadie and I grew up together, so we really wanted to play best friends. That was something that would have been really fun for us,” she told PlayBill. “But looking back, I cannot imagine anyone in this world playing Raelynn other than Amalia [Yoo] — she is literally perfect for that role.”
She added: “Now there’s no universe in which I could imagine being anyone else in the show. It makes so much sense to me now.”
18. Chiara hopes to be a part of the forthcoming “John Proctor Is the Villain” movie in some way.
“I mean, I think the play is so awesome and I can’t wait to see what Kimberly [Belflower] does with it,” she told Teen Vogue. “I’m just grateful to be a part of the theater journey for it right now, but obviously you never know.”
