This Passover, Get Yourself a Goblet

Why not drink your four cups of wine at seder in the most dramatic vessel possible?

Elijah’s cup this, Miriam’s cup that. This Passover, you really ought to get yourself a goblet.

The halacha (Jewish law) for Passover dictates that we must drink four glasses of wine during the seder, and Jewish sages established the tradition of leaving an extra glass out for Elijah. But there are no strictures on what kind of wine glass you use at seder. (Just as long as it can hold reviis of wine, aka 2.9 fluid ounces.) So why not go with the most dramatic vessel possible?

The story of the Exodus from Egypt deserves a deeply theatrical retelling, and every participant in that retelling deserves to feel like merry royalty. Scroll on for some some very ornate, exceptional goblets. (We’re defining “goblet” to mean a large, grand cup. So we’ve thrown in a few actual Kiddush cups for good measure!) All will hold a hefty pour of wine and wow your seder guests.
