The High Holidays are right around the corner, and they provide the perfect time to take stock of our thoughts, feelings and our lives. The Ten Days of Repentance — the intentionally thoughtful time between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur — are an opportunity to tap into the most soul-searching versions of ourselves. What better way to do this than by putting some of your thoughts and feelings on paper?
This year, Hey Alma is here to help facilitate this process! Our Deputy Managing Editor Vanessa Friedman will be hosting our first ever Jewish Journaling Class on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET.
Sign up to journal all your Jewish feelings here!
Wondering if this class is for you? It almost certainly is, because it’s for everyone!
Have you always wanted to journal regularly but don’t know where to start? Are you already an avid journaler who is looking for new creative ways to capture your emotions? Does your professional writing practice need some fresh ideas? Do you have a lot you want to say but worry you’re not a “real” writer? Whether you’re a seasoned professional writer or have never written a creative sentence in your life, if you feel called to parse your feelings — Jewish and beyond — during this potent time of year, we made this class for you.
We’ll gather on Zoom for 90 minutes and will spend most of that time writing together. Vanessa will offer ice breaker exercises, journaling prompts and tips from her own 30-year journaling practice.
Due to the personal nature of this class, it will not be recorded. If you have to miss class, you will receive a PDF including the prompts, but you will not receive a video recording.
