Attention all Jewish college students who love to write: We are excited to announce the third year of our Hey Alma College Writing Fellow program! Last year, we had an amazing crew whose pieces encompassed a wide variety of tones and topics. (See all their writing here!)
For the 2022-2023 school year, we’re looking for a small group of Jewish undergraduate students to join our team for the upcoming school year who are eager to learn more about digital publishing and writing for the internet. All self-identifying Jews of any level of religious observance/non-observance are welcome to apply (i.e. it’s OK if you haven’t “done anything Jewish” since your bat mitzvah, or if you never even had a bat mitzvah, and it’s also fine if you keep Shabbat, etc. etc.).
This will be a remote program where you’ll be in regular contact with our editorial team and fellow… fellows. As a Hey Alma College Writing Fellow, you’ll be part of a sounding board for the editorial team, connect with other Jewish college students in a warm, supportive environment, and have the opportunity to pitch and write for us!

This is a non-paid position, but fellows will be paid standard rates for all published articles.

You will be asked to upload a file answering the following questions:
(1) Pitch two Hey Alma articles you’d like to write for us (following our writing guidelines here). Please make this a one paragraph pitch, including a suggested headline and subhead.
(2) What does your Jewish identity mean to you? (500 words) (Understand “identity” however you’d like.)
(3) Share a piece of writing you are proud of, either as a link if it is published or attached in the doc (try to keep it in the 1,000-word ballpark).
