Are Taika Waititi and Rita Ora Married?!

The internet is all over the Māori Jewish filmmaker's wedding to the British singer, but we're still waiting on definitive proof.

The last few months have been chock full of exciting news about Jewish celebrities and their partners. On June 23, Beanie Feldstein revealed that she had gotten engaged to longtime girlfriend Bonnie Chance Roberts. Just this week, “Broad City” star Abbi Jacobson and girlfriend Jodi Balfour walked the red carpet together and announced their recent engagement.

And now, the internet is abuzz with the news that Māori Jewish filmmaker Taika Waititi and singer Rita Ora, who have been publicly linked as a couple since 2021, WERE APPARENTLY MARRIED IN SECRET!!!

While this is exciting news if it’s true, you should note the word “apparently.” At the time of publication, neither of the pair has publicly commented on their marital status, nor is there definite proof that the couple have wed.

But there are definite clues, thanks to some internet sleuthing from The Daily Mail. In a report from August 8, The Mail suggests that Taika and Rita tied the knot after noticing that Ora was wearing what appeared to be a gold band on her ring finger in a photo posted to her Instagram. While Rita is wearing extravagant rings on each of her fingers in the photo, the wedding band theory is made more plausible by the fact that The Daily Mail also noted a photo posted to Rita Ora’s sister’s Instagram story in which Taika is also wearing a gold band on his ring finger!

To add to this (kind of?) proof, tabloid newspaper The Sun quoted an apparent guest at the Waititi-Ora wedding.

“It was a really intimate ceremony and super special for everyone there,” the source claimed. “Their nearest and dearest can see how madly in love they are.”

However, The Sun opted to keep their source anonymous, which makes their credibility shaky at best.

So, are Taika Waititi and Rita Ora married? Maybe! If they are indeed husband and wife, then mazel tov to the happy couple! We’ll be waiting with bated breath for the definite confirmation.
