Not since Jewish personalities Emily Ratajkowski and Eric André briefly dated in early 2023 — a couple I nicknamed Emratandré — has the world seen a truly unexpected celebrity couple. (No, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco don’t count because it’s really not that surprising that a singer and a songwriting/record producer would get together.)
Now, however, it seems that another random celebrity pairing is potentially on the rise because… wait, are Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein dating?!
On Saturday, J.Lo and the British Jewish actor saw “Oh, Mary!” together to support actress Betty Gilpin, who is currently starring in the Broadway show as Mary Todd Lincoln. All three are starring together in the forthcoming Netflix rom-com “Office Romance,” which is co-written by Goldstein. After the show, they were photographed backstage with Betty Gilpin, alongside another highly rumored celeb couple: Martin Short and Meryl Streep.
Then, on Monday, The Daily Mail reported that J.Lo was interested in Goldstein. “After a very tough start to 2025, Jennifer can’t wait to start a new project and it certainly helps that she will be working with a very handsome and smart star like Brett,” an anonymous source said. “He is like the younger, better, British version of Ben [Affleck]. She thinks he is very cute,” they added, dissing the recently divorced Lopez’s ex-husband.
Drama! Naturally, an anonymous source does not make a reliable piece of news. But since The Daily Mail article, Cosmopolitan and Yahoo News have also picked up on the rumors. At time of publication, neither Brett Goldstein nor Jennifer Lopez have commented on the dating speculation.
If they were dating, however, their relationship would add to the recent trend of extremely high profile interfaith relationships, which includes the aforementioned Selena and Benny, Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, and Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet. While J.Lo was raised Catholic, Brett Goldstein grew up in a Jewish family in a London suburb. He had his bar mitzvah at the Wimbledon Synagogue. Even before he skyrocketed to fame thanks to “Ted Lasso,” two Emmy wins and now “Shrinking,” Brett has kept his Jewish identity private.
So are J.Lo and Brett Goldstein dating? Nothing is confirmed right now, but we’ll be keeping an eye on their potential relationship!
