Is Actress and Comedian Ivy Wolk Jewish?

Whether you love or hate the "Anora" actress, it's time to investigate.

Whether you love her or you hate her, Ivy Wolk has staying power.

The 21-year-old actress and comedian catapulted herself to fame/infamy at the age of 13 due to her proclivity for posting “a steady stream of unfettered hot takes,” per Interview Magazine’s Emily Sandstrom. However, she’s also established a healthy acting career for herself.

Over the last few years, Wolk has appeared in “Anora,” “Friendship,” “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” and “English Teacher,” and is slated to appear in the forthcoming movies “Outcome” and “Roommates” — the latter of which also stars Sadie Sandler.

So, is Ivy Wolk Jewish? It’s time to investigate.

If you’ve been following along with our previous investigations of this nature, you know that we’re looking to check at least one of two boxes. Does Ivy Wolk identify as culturally or religiously Jewish? And/or, does Ivy Wolk have Jewish ancestry? If the answer to either of those questions is a resounding yes, she’s a member of the tribe!

Let’s start with the former question: Does Ivy Wolk identify as religiously or culturally Jewish? In short, the answer is yes — to at least the cultural aspect. In the 2025 Christmas episode of the “Trash Tuesday” podcast, Ivy told hosts Esther Povitsky and Khalyla Kuhn that she grew up Jewish.

Jewishness is also a topic that has informed her career. Ivy has cited Jewish artists Sandra Bernhard and Amy Winehouse as her heroes, and Ivy has included jokes about her Jewish identity into her stand-up sets. “Receiving oral sex as a woman is quite difficult for me because to me it’s kind of like, why are you trying to steal my secrets out of my portal, you know? Betwixt these thighs, that’s like Auschwitz ancestral trauma,” she once joked.

OK, but what about her family? Though Ivy and her mother are very close, as she says in the “Trash Tuesday” podcast, the most readily available public information about Ivy’s mother is that she recently graduated college with a degree in landscape architecture. (Mazel tov to her!) (Editorial note: After publication, Ivy Wolk posted on her Instagram story that her mom saw this piece and “wants u to know she is also jewish matrilineally.”)

Meanwhile, Ivy’s father is John Wolk, the censor for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Through him, she has Jewish heritage. Apparently, her paternal grandfather Barry obituary was a very active member in the Chicago Jewish community following the passing of his father Jacob Wolk in 1991. Jacob himself hailed from Pittsburgh, where it seems he, his father Sol and brother Leonard ran Sol Wolk & Sons, “a haberdashery known for bar mitzvah suits and snazzy menswear.”

Verdict: Yes, Ivy Wolk is Jewish.
