It’s been over two years since “Schitt’s Creek” went off the air and, like many of us, I am languishing without Jewish comedian Dan Levy in my life.
At first, it wasn’t so bad; the end of 2020 saw Levy starring in films like “Coastal Elites” and “The Happiest Season,” and in 2021 he hosted “Saturday Night Live” and voiced a character in the Netflix show “Q-Force” — plus, news broke that he will be hosting his own cooking competition, “The Big Brunch.”
But 2022 hasn’t been as kind to us Levites (a name of one of the 12 Tribes of Israel that I’m now repurposing as the name for fans of Dan and Eugene Levy). So far, Dan Levy has not been in any shows or movies, and there have been no prospects on the horizon.
Until today.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Dan Levy is joining the cast of Netflix’s acclaimed dramedy “Sex Education” for its fourth season!! Apparently he will be playing Thomas Molloy, a cult author at a prestigious U.S. university who tutors main character Maeve. (At the end of season three, we learned that Maeve was accepted to a study abroad program in the States.)
Levy took to social media to announce his role in the show, calling it “VERY serious news.”
While Levy is not the first Jew on “Sex Education” (Jewish actress Jemima Kirke had a featured role in season three as headmistress Hope Haddon), here’s hoping that the latest season of the hilarious, progressive and sexy show will get an infusion of Jewish humor!
