Where To Stream ‘The Prince of Egypt’ This Passover, Or Honestly Anytime

Just because your VHS tape is long gone doesn't mean you have to give up this animated classic.

So, you’re playing with the big boys now. Translation: The days of watching “The Prince of Egypt” (1998) on VHS in your parents’ basement are long over.

But just because you’re an adult (and that VHS tape has disintegrated) doesn’t mean you have to give up watching this animated musical classic.

For those in need of a refresher, “The Prince of Egypt” is a gorgeous retelling of the Passover story from Exodus. With songs composed by Hans Zimmer and lyrics written by Stephen Schwartz, the movie follows Moses (Val Kilmer) from the banks of the Nile River, to his childhood with brother Rameses (Ralph Fiennes) in the palace of the Egyptian pharaoh’s palace.

But when Moses meets Miriam (Sandra Bullock) and Aaron (Jeff Goldblum) and learns he is their sibling and a Hebrew, not just a prince of Egypt, he goes on a journey to understand who he really is. The result is that Moses becomes the prophet he is meant to be — leading the Hebrew slaves to freedom out of Egypt.
