Who Is Este Haim Engaged To?!

Jewish band Haim made a grand return to social media today, announcing Este's engagement and sparking speculation that a fourth album is coming.

Breaking news: Haim is back. I repeat: HAIM IS BACK!!

It’s been nearly five years since the Jewish sister band released their most recent album “Women In Music Pt. III.” In that time, youngest sister Alana starred in “Licorice Pizza” and has been working on at least three other movies. Eldest Este starred in the 2024 movie “Shell” and composed music for movies and shows like “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” “Do Revenge” and “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.” And middle child Danielle has been… well, mainly hanging out with Taylor Swift, I guess?

But after all three Haim sisters deleted their Instagram pages last year, there’s been an obvious disconnect between the band and their fanbase — and any hope for a potential fourth album quelled.

Until today, that is. In extremely Haim fashion, all three sisters reactivated their Instagram accounts with matching, Galentine’s/Valentine’s Day messages. Danielle shared a photo of herself in a t-shirt reading, “I’M SINGLE.” Alana shared a photo of herself wearing a t-shirt that reads, “I’M ???” Meanwhile, Este revealed the biggest news: She’s apparently engaged! In her photo, she dons a t-shirt that reads, “I’M TAKEN” and a giant diamond ring on her left ring finger.

A Humble Request:
Hey Alma's content is free because we believe everybody deserves to be a part of our radically inclusive Jewish community. Reader donations help us do that. Will you give what you can to keep Hey Alma open to all? (It's a mitzvah, ya know.)

But who is Este engaged to?!? Signs point to Jonathan Levin, cofounder of blockchain data analysis firm Chainalysis, who was (until the engagement) Este’s boyfriend. The pair have been spotted together at Taylor Swift’s birthday party in 2023, in Taylor Swift’s suite at a Chiefs Game and at the 2024 U.S. Open (with Taylor Swift). In case you were curious, yes, he’s Jewish! In fact, according to his LinkedIn, Levin was Vice President of the Bristol Jewish Society at the University of Bristol during his time there as a student. (NJB status or not, Jonathan Levin would do best to heed the anti-cheating warning of Taylor Swift and Haim’s collab “no body no crime.”)

The other exciting piece to Haim’s grand return to social media is that this might hint at a soon-to-be-released fourth album. A Haim wedding and a new Haim album? Dayenu!
