Join Hey Alma’s New Jewish Fiction Writing Class With Gabrielle Korn

The queer Jewish author and guest judge of Hey Alma's Fiction Contest will teach the basics of fiction writing in this virtual class.

Calling all Jewish fiction writers, storytellers and dreamers: We have an exciting new class to offer you! Queer Jewish author Gabrielle Korn (“Everybody (Else) Is Perfect,” “Yours For The Taking” and “The Shutouts”) is teaching a Fiction 101 Class for Hey Alma — and you’re invited!

Sign up for our Hey Alma Fiction 101 writing class here!

Whether you’re a published author, a novice writer or simply someone who has always wanted to take the expansive stories in your head and get them down on paper, this class is for you.

And bonus: It just so happens to coincide with Hey Alma’s Jewish Fiction Contest, so if you’re looking to polish your story before throwing your hat in the ring, now is the time! Gabrielle is our guest judge for the contest this year, so this class is a great way to learn from her and learn what she likes when it comes to fiction.

In this 90-minute class, Gabrielle will cover how to figure out what your story is, structure, building characters that feel real — and how to actually get started. There will also be opportunities to ask Gabrielle questions about writing and publishing.

A Humble Request:
Hey Alma's content is free because we believe everybody deserves to be a part of our radically inclusive Jewish community. Reader donations help us do that. Will you give what you can to keep Hey Alma open to all? (It's a mitzvah, ya know.)

The class will be held virtually on Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m. ET. This class is open to anyone 18+ and all writing levels. It will not be recorded.

You can sign up here! We’re so excited to write short fiction together!
